Because National's frames are constructed entirely of aluminum with panels of tempered glass or polycarbonate structured sheet throughout, their residential greenhouses are structurally superior to all other residential greenhouses. With over 60 years of experience, National's greenhouses are designed, engineered and can be outfitted with the accessories you need to help your dreams take shape. Some of the many uses include plant and flower cultivation, orchid growing, vegetable growing, cultivation of tropical and specialized plants, starting seeds for seasonal outdoor gardening, gardening year-round and preserving outdoor plants throughout the colder months. National offers two basic types of structures. The lean-to model, which attaches to a home or existing structure, can be entered from inside the house or out. The freestanding model can be placed anywhere on a foundation and positioned for optimal lighting. It can also be butted up against a house for easy access. Both the lean-to models and freestanding models consist of an aluminum frame with aluminum extrusions designed to hold standard coverings. Choice of bronze or white frames, along with curved or straight eaves, provides an excellent match to any type architectural design or color scheme. The design may allow for frame and covering to the ground, or "wall models" with covering and frame stopping and fastening on top of the customer's foundation wall. A continuous automated roof vent, with vent screens, is standard on all models and affords ventilation required for most growing situations.
National greenhouses are developed from the ground up with the customer in mind. Beyond sheer beauty, there are many quality considerations that go into their design and manufacture. The framing and glazing components are pre-drilled and precut for ease of assembly. All National vent sashes are equipped with socket hinges, rather than the standard hook hinges. This permits opening of the vent without it coming unhooked and dropping out. The socket hinge means better ventilation and better protection from inclement weather. All models can be designed to meet local building codes. For structural integrity, National utilizes steel fasteners at all points where strength must be developed. Anchor bolts provided by National, when installed in accordance with their instructions, secure the National greenhouse firmly to its foundation. T-bolts are used for greater ease of assembly. Vent assemblies are equipped with extruded E.P.D.M. weather stripping to reduce air leakage when vents are closed. In straight eaves models, GE polycarbonate structural sheet is also available. It offers a high level of light transmission while blocking harmful ultraviolet rays. With twice the R-value of glass, LEXAN(R) DRIPGARD(TM) sheet provides excellent thermal insulation. The investment is rapidly returned by saving replacement costs, reducing energy costs, and increasing plant yields. It is virtually unbreakable and resists weathering for long term performance. National Greenhouse aluminum bar caps are extruded rather than stamped. This means that when glass is used to cover either a straight eave or curved eave greenhouse structure, it is held more firmly in place. Also, a deeper crimp at the end of the bar gives it a more positive hold on the glass to prevent slippage. To ensure the secure bedding of glass, National uses extruded butyl rope. This bedding has outstanding sealing properties, is more resilient, and is much less affected by age and weather than other types of bedding. An extra-large channel in the glass seat allows the use of a much larger bead of butyl putty for cushioning the glass. This protects against needless breakage and provides greater flexibility. Each pane of glass at the header is held firmly in place by a continuous aluminum glass stop to minimize sagging and excess heat loss due to air leakage. An extra-wide flange at the bottom of the roof bar gathers condensation and allows it to flow down the flange and out of the greenhouse instead of dripping into the interior. A 1-3/4" aluminum door complete with tumbler lock set, closer, and wind chain is standard with each structure. Our customers claim they are the finest doors on the market since most other suppliers use standard storm doors approximately 1-1/4" thick. National doors come with self-storing screens. Door framing, including jamb and header, is of extruded aluminum.

All standard models are available in 4 or more section multiples of standard 30 ½" lengths. Available in white and bronze baked-on enamel. Dimensions shown are approximate only. A complete set of drawings is furnished with each greenhouse showing exact dimensions. Foundations should not be installed until plans are received from the company to assure that the proper dimensions will be held. All greenhouses are furnished complete and prefabricated with the necessary aluminum members, bolts, nuts and screws, glass and glazing compound, prehung doors and framing, and installation plans. One continuous row of automatic motorized roof vents is included with each greenhouse, along with vent screens. All glass is 1/8" tempered greenhouse grade. All aluminum doors are 1 ¾" thick X 3' X 6'-8", complete with tumbler lock sets, closers and wind chains, and have an operable window panel with screen. NOT INCLUDED in the basic greenhouse catalog price is freight, installation, heating and cooling equipment, other accessories, foundations, masonry wall or any other installation expense. All counter flashing is the responsibility of the owner. Prices charged are those in effect at the time of shipment. All prices are subject to change without notice.
